K&N's new Power Commander series represents a
breakthrough technology for motorcycles with original equipment (OEM) Fuel
Injection.
Each unit is supplied with a specific map, designed to improve performance over
stock. In addition, several maps for alternate tuning packages are included on
disk and can be downloaded into the Power Commander module via a PC Computer.
The Power Commander includes a IBM compatible link cable and software package
which allows you to fully map the fuel and ignition curves on your computer. If
no IBM compatible computer is available, the fuel curve can be adjusted using
three touch buttons on the face plate.
K&N is continuously mapping different combinations for each bike.

While carburetors on motorcycles and other powersport toys arent exactly a thing of the past, they arent necessarily the wave of the future, either. Look around. Every major manufacturer now offers bikes and sleds with the engines fuel delivery and ignition curve computer controlled. Whether its a Harley-Davidson or a Buell, a Ducati or a Honda, a Triumph, Yamaha or a Kawasaki, computer-controlled electronic fuel-injected with matching ignition-system controls is now OE standardÉfor good reason. These new system-controls work, and they work well. Which isnt to say they cant be made to work even better, after a little massaging. You know just like those old carburetors! Who better to do the re-tuning (re-mapping now!) than Dynojet? Since 1972 Dynojet Research has been the performance leader in fuel-delivery tuning, and in 1984 Dynojet teamed with K&N Engineering to develop and market a whole range of kits to improve throttle response and increase horsepower on performance bikes everywhere. But the future (the present!) of motorcycling is fuel injection, and the re-tuning now comes via computer, and the K&N/Dynojet Power Commander II. Years of track and street testing are built into this lightweight, compact and completely sealed microprocessor. It installs in about five minutes and quickly and easily connects directly to the OE wiring with OE-style plug-ins. Instantly, the fuel system and the ignition curve become fully adjustable, the changes made with buttons right on the processors faceplate or via an IBM compatible computer, the Power Commander II includes a computer-link cable and easy-to-use Dynojet Control Center software. Additionally, Dynojet is continuously developing and mapping new and different combinations of fuel and ignition curves for each motorcycle, and these new maps can be transferred right into the Power Commander II. The result: Total, complete and always up-to-date engine management for crisp throttle response, more horsepower, better ridability, and improved fuel mileage. Need some convincing? Listen to what a few Power Commander II users have to say: . . . as long as I have been working on and building motorcycles I have yet to use a product that can improve performance of a fuel-injected bike like the PCII. Im talking horsepower! . . . I picked up my 2000 Road King Classic today, and my dealer put the PCII in even before delivery. His stock demo bike was okay, but its nothing like mine with the Power Commander installed! . . . I put a new air filter on my bike and a trick looking set of slip-on mufflers and all of a sudden I had lots of popping through the exhaust and a big loss of low end throttle response. The Power Commander II corrected both conditions. |
